My name is Kristin Fowler, currently a student attending NSCAD University’s jewellery and metalsmithing bachleor programme. I am twenty-one years old and have already done a plethora of metalwork such as forging, both hot and cold, as well as much time spent at the bench doing stone settings and other metal fabrication. I have worked in gold (so far only 10k and 14k yellow), fine and sterling silver, niobium, steel, brass, bronze and copper. I have experience in making and tempering hand tools such as chasing tools and also in chasing and repoussé itself. Although being a bench jeweller can be very satisfying, my love for metal lies in forging;  whether it be the light, gradual hammering of soft metals, or the harder spark-producing kind of blacksmithing. I have also experience with acid etching with ferric chloride and nitrate respectively. I have also had experience with enamelling, having done techniques such as plique-á-jour, cloisonné, sgraffito, limoges,  basse taille and champlevé.

Much of my inspiration comes from the natural world and the mythologies of different cultures, two things which have always been keen interests of mine. For the future, I hope to work on more stone setting and blacksmithing. Hope you enjoy my work :)
